American Eagle Outfitters is a retail store chain catering to teenagers and young adults. AE is best known for its private-label jeans, polo shirts and graphic t-shirts. Its trademark slogan is “Live Your Life.”

The company was started in Pittsburgh in 1977 by Mark and Jerry Silverman. In the 1990s, the company was taken over by the Schottenstein family who had previously been part owners of the company and who grew the business into what it is today. Over time, American Eagle Outfitters has become one of the most beloved brands of America’s finicky youth.
