The baseball cap is a genuine piece of American sportswear, which also happens to be the world’s most popular hat. Baseball caps are made in wool, cotton, polyester, blends and even mesh in the back half of the cap (which is used in so-called trucker caps). In the 1940s, the cap developed a more structured shape and latex stiffening was added to the 19th century bonnet-style curved bill, which further shaded players’ eyes from the sun.
